A Ceremonial Retreat

The Living Temple

A Sacred Valley Pilgrimage of Renewal & Revelation

May 12-21, 2027

Optional Lake Titicaca Extension: May 21–24, 2027

A Ceremonial Pilgrimage Through the Living Andes

There are places in this world where the land begins working on you from the moment you arrive.

Peru’s Sacred Valley is one of those places.

Held among ancient mountains, sacred waters, living Andean traditions, and extraordinary ceremonial sites, The Living Temple is an intimate pilgrimage for women who feel called to step outside the pace of ordinary life and enter into a deeper relationship with themselves, Spirit, and the living world.

Through Andean ceremony, sacred pilgrimage, cleansing, prayer, rest, nourishing food, and sisterhood, we will create space for what is ready to be released, renewed, and revealed.

This is an invitation to approach the Sacred Valley as a living temple, and to discover what becomes available when you allow the land to meet you.

Is Peru calling you?

This pilgrimage retreat may be calling you if you are...

  • You feel drawn to Peru in a way you cannot fully explain.
  • You are standing at the threshold of a new chapter and sense that stepping outside your familiar world could offer clarity, renewal, or revelation.
  • You long to experience sacred sites as places of relationship rather than attractions to be checked off an itinerary.
  • You feel called to deepen your connection with the Earth, Spirit, ceremony, and the wisdom held within your own body.
  • You value meaningful spiritual exploration held within an intimate community of women.
  • You are open to approaching the land with humility, curiosity, and respect for the people and traditions that continue to care for it.
  • You do not need to know exactly why Peru is calling you. Sometimes the pilgrimage begins long before we understand where it is leading.

The Heart of Pilgrimage

Pilgrimage is more than traveling to a sacred destination. It is a conscious departure from the familiar and a willingness to meet whatever the path places before you.

Every true pilgrimage carries moments of awe, beauty, connection, and wonder. It may also bring discomfort, uncertainty, changing plans, and thresholds that ask you to meet yourself differently. While these moments may feel abrupt and unwelcomed, they are part of the pilgrimage process and hold purpose.

When we step outside the rhythms and identities of ordinary life, we become available to what could not reach us in the same way at home. Insight arrives through the body, the land, the people we encounter, and the moments we could never have planned.

The treasures we carry home are more than photographs or memories. They are the courage discovered through meeting a challenge, the freedom created through release, the unexpected moment that restores our wonder, and the revelation that continues unfolding long after the journey ends.

Together, we will walk through ancient sites, enter ceremony, rest, laugh, adapt, listen, and allow the pilgrimage itself to become part of the medicine. Transformation cannot be prescribed, but a sincere encounter with sacred land has a way of becoming a living treasure on the path.

The Sacred Valley, Experienced as Ceremony

Every experience within The Living Temple has been chosen to bring you into deeper relationship with the land, the Sacred, and the wisdom unfolding within you. Along the way, we will move between ceremony and exploration, activation and restoration, awe and integration, all allowing the pilgrimage itself to guide the journey.

Opening Despacho Ceremony

We will begin by consciously introducing ourselves to the land through a despacho ceremony held by trusted traditional Andean practitioners. A despacho is a prayer bundle created with natural and symbolic offerings. Through gratitude, prayer, and intention, we will honor Pachamama, the Apus, and the living forces of the Sacred Valley while asking permission to enter the journey with reverence.

This opening ceremony establishes the foundation for our pilgrimage: we are not arriving as passive visitors or consumers of spiritual experiences. We are entering into relationship through ayni, the Andean principle of sacred reciprocity. We will offer before we ask to receive.

Pisac and the Sacred Valley

We will explore Pisac and its vibrant market, where traditional artistry, textiles, jewelry, color, and craftsmanship offer a living expression of Peruvian culture. There will be time to wander, discover meaningful treasures, and experience the creative spirit of the Sacred Valley.

Temazcal Ceremony

Held within the heat, darkness, steam, and prayer of this traditional Mesoamerican ceremony, the temazcal offers an experience of purification, renewal, and symbolic return to the womb of the Earth. You will be encouraged to remain in relationship with your body and make empowered choices throughout the experience.

Ollantaytambo and Ñaupa Iglesia

We will travel through Ollantaytambo, a remarkable living Inca town surrounded by mountains, terraces, stonework, and ceremonial architecture. We will also visit Ñaupa Iglesia, an enigmatic rock-cut ceremonial site associated with prayer, offerings, and the enduring mysteries of the Andes. These ancient places invite us to move beyond intellectual understanding and experience the mystery held within the stones.

Cacao Ceremony and Sound Bath

We will gather with ceremonial cacao before resting into an immersive sound bath. This heart-centered experience will create space to soften, receive, and allow the movement of the pilgrimage to settle more deeply into the body.

Machu Picchu

Our pilgrimage will bring us to Machu Picchu, where extraordinary Inca architecture rises from a dramatic meeting place between the Andes and the upper Amazon basin. Rather than approaching it simply as one of the wonders of the world, we will enter with intention and allow time to encounter the beauty, mystery, and profound relationship between human creation and the natural landscape.

The Temple of the Moon and Grandfather Medicine

We will enter the powerful stone landscape of the Temple of the Moon for a full-day ceremonial experience held with a trusted Andean paqo. Within this sacred setting, participants will have the opportunity to work with Wachuma, also known as Grandfather Medicine, a plant deeply rooted in the ceremonial traditions of the Andes.

Every woman will participate in the larger ceremonial journey while remaining empowered to choose how she enters into relationship with the plant. Those who do not feel called to ingest Wachuma may work with its spirit through prayer, presence, meditation, and direct communion with the land.

Preparation, informed choice, personal discernment, and respect for the body will be honored throughout. No one will be pressured to engage with the medicine in a way that does not feel aligned.

Cleansing at Kinsa Cocha

High in the mountains beyond Pisac, the Kinsa Cocha landscape holds three remote Andean lagoons surrounded by wide skies, rugged peaks, and grazing lands. Here, we will participate in a cleansing ceremony and create space to release what we are not meant to carry forward.

Breath as Medicine

Sarah will guide a shamanic breathwork ceremony weaving together conscious connected breathing, sound, journeywork, and sacred space. Rather than forcing an outcome, you will be invited to follow the intelligence of your breath and meet whatever is ready to move, open, or be revealed.

Rest, Nourishment and Integration

Transformation does not happen only in the most dramatic moments. It also unfolds through rest, conversation, quiet reflection, beautiful meals, and time spent allowing an experience to settle into the body.

Throughout the pilgrimage, there will be space to integrate what you are receiving rather than rushing immediately toward the next experience.

Practices for Grounding and Integration

Throughout the pilgrimage, Sarah will weave in guided shamanic journeys, gentle yoga, reflection circles, meditation, and intentional practices that help you listen to what is unfolding and integrate what you are receiving. These practices will support the rhythm of the journey without creating pressure to process, perform, or manufacture a particular experience.

Spa and Massage

During designated free time, you may choose to visit Munay Sonqo’s onsite spa for a massage or other restorative treatments. The hot pools, sauna, cold plunge, salt cave, and mountain views offer beautiful ways to care for your body and support integration.

Traditional Coca-Leaf Readings

Optional individual coca-leaf readings will be available during the retreat. Within Andean tradition, the leaves may be used as an oracle through which a practitioner listens for guidance and insight from the natural and spiritual world.

Nourishing Food and Sacred Community

Fresh vegetarian meals, unhurried conversations, laughter, and time shared in sisterhood will be an essential part of the experience. Some of the most meaningful moments of pilgrimage arise unexpectedly in the spaces between what was planned.

Your Sacred Valley Sanctuary

Our home for this journey will be the beautiful Munay Sonqo Retreat & Yoga Center, nestled among the mountains and gardens of the Sacred Valley.

More than accommodation, Munay Sonqo will serve as the sanctuary that holds us between ceremonies and excursions. We will gather in dedicated ceremonial spaces, enjoy three fresh vegetarian meals each day, and have opportunities to wander through gardens and orchards, rest, reflect, and receive optional treatments at the onsite Qhalilla Spa.

With outdoor hot pools overlooking the valley, a sauna, cold plunge, infrared cabin, salt cave, and restorative treatments, the spa offers another way to care for the body and support integration throughout the journey.

This balance of pilgrimage and restoration is intentional. There will be powerful days of ceremony and exploration, but there will also be beauty, comfort, nourishment, and room to breathe.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION - May 21-24, 2027 - Domestic flight included

For Those Called to Continue the Journey

For those who feel called to continue beyond the Sacred Valley, an optional three-night journey will take us into the high-altitude landscape of Lake Titicaca, a place many earth-energy traditions regard as the planet’s sacral chakra.

We will visit the ancient town of Pucará, considered the birthplace of the pre-Inca Pukara civilization. Long before the rise of the Inca Empire, this culture created monumental stone temples, ceremonial architecture, and powerful carved figures throughout the Lake Titicaca basin. Here, we will encounter the Kalasaya ceremonial complex and the stone wisdom of one of the Andes’ most influential ancient cultures.

We will also journey to Aramu Muru, the enigmatic stone doorway known as the Gate of the Gods. Its original purpose remains unknown, yet the site is surrounded by stories of passage between worlds, alternate realities, and travelers moving through the stone portal. Within some Seven Rays and modern esoteric teachings, Aramu Muru is also connected with Mu, or Lemuria, and the preservation of ancient spiritual wisdom following the fall of that civilization.

Whether you experience these stories as ancient legend, energetic memory, spiritual teaching, or sacred mystery, this monumental doorway invites you to stand at the threshold of the known and listen for what the land may reveal through direct encounter.

Our pilgrimage will then carry us across the sacred waters of Lake Titicaca to Amantani Island, home to the mountaintop ceremonial temples of Pachamama and Pachatata, Mother Earth and Father Earth. Surrounded by water, sky, and the vast silence of the Altiplano, we will explore the island’s living Quechua culture and enter into relationship with a landscape that has held prayer and ceremony for generations.

This extension is for those who feel the pull to travel farther into the ancient portals and stone temples of Peru. It offers an opportunity to deepen what the Sacred Valley has awakened, continue listening to the intelligence of the land, and complete the pilgrimage within one of the most powerful and mysterious landscapes of the Andes.

The domestic flight required for this extension, accommodations, transportation, meals, and guided experiences will be included in the extension investment.

When the Land is Calling You

Sometimes you feel drawn to a place before you understand why. It often begins with the place appearing in conversations, dreams, or unexpected synchronicities. Something in you recognizes an energy your conscious mind cannot yet explain.

There is an intelligence within this kind of guidance. Your body and soul are continually attuning to the larger field of life, and the pull toward a particular place may be an invitation into relationship with the mountains, waters, ancient stones, ancestral prayers, and living traditions held there.

This is part of the mystery of gridwork. At times, we are guided to particular ley lines and power places not only to receive, but to participate in a reciprocal exchange. We bring our presence, prayer, consciousness, and light to the land. The land, in turn, awakens and activates something within us.

The ancient stone temples of Peru carry a presence that cannot be fully conveyed through words or photographs. They must be encountered through the body. Standing among stones shaped in relationship with the mountains, heavens, and cycles of the Earth can awaken recognition, emotion, insight, and memory beyond the rational mind.

If you feel an inexplicable pull toward Peru, trust the invitation to listen. The call itself is often the beginning of the pilgrimage.

What becomes possible when you give yourself the gift of pilgrimage?

Meet Your Spiritual Mentor, Ceremonialist and Modern Medicine Woman

Sarah Balmer, aka Sarah Belle

Sarah Belle is a spiritual mentor, ceremonialist, and guide devoted to helping others reconnect with the wisdom of their soul and embody it more fully in their lives. Her work weaves together earth-based spirituality, shamanic healing, crystal wisdom, ceremony, and deep inner transformation to create experiences that are both grounded and profoundly meaningful.

For years, Sarah has guided individuals through journeys of healing, self-discovery, and spiritual remembrance. At the heart of her work is the belief that transformation doesn't come from gathering more information; it comes from creating the conditions where we can listen deeply, remember what is true, and courageously bring that truth into the world.

Through sacred experiences, nature immersion, ceremony, and community, Sarah creates spaces where the soul can be heard, wisdom can be embodied, and the unique song each person carries can find expression.

Because accommodations, transportation, entrance tickets, ceremonial practitioners, and other retreat arrangements are reserved and paid well in advance, all retreat payments are generally nonrefundable and nontransferable.

We understand that serious and unexpected circumstances can arise. In the case of a documented medical emergency or significant immediate-family emergency, Sarah may, at her discretion, offer a partial refund of up to 50% of the retreat payments received, less payment-processing fees and any expenses that have already become nonrecoverable.

If Sarah cancels the retreat because minimum enrollment is not reached, 100% of the retreat payments you made to Sarah Belle will be refunded. If the retreat must be changed, postponed, interrupted, or canceled because of circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disaster, political unrest, government restrictions, border closures, public-health emergencies, transportation shutdowns, or the closure of a destination, the available options will depend upon the timing of the event and the funds recoverable from hotels, airlines, guides, practitioners, and other providers.

When possible, we will offer a rescheduled journey, an applicable retreat credit, or a refund of the recoverable portion of payments. Because expenses paid to third parties may be nonrefundable, a full refund cannot be guaranteed under these circumstances. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended and may be required as a condition of participation.

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. Your policy should ideally cover trip cancellation or interruption, flight disruptions, delayed or lost baggage, medical care, emergency evacuation, and circumstances that may prevent you from participating.

Because significant retreat expenses are paid in advance and cannot always be recovered, travel insurance is the best way to protect your investment.

Wachuma, also known as San Pedro or Grandfather Medicine, is a sacred cactus with a long history of ceremonial use in the Andes. Within traditional practice, Wachuma is often approached as a wise and heart-opening teacher that may support prayer, reflection, connection with the natural world, and a more intimate encounter with one’s inner landscape.

Our full-day ceremony at the Temple of the Moon offers an opportunity to enter this tradition with reverence under the care of trusted local practitioners. It is an intentional ceremonial encounter with the plant, the land, and whatever each woman is ready to meet.

Before the retreat, participants will receive preparation information, health and safety guidance, and opportunities to ask questions so they can make an informed and personally aligned choice.

No. The Temple of the Moon is a shared full-day ceremonial experience, but ingesting Wachuma is always a personal choice.

Women who do not feel called to ingest the plant may participate through prayer, meditation, presence, and energetic relationship with the spirit of the plant and the land. Choosing not to ingest Wachuma will not exclude you from the ceremonial day or make your experience less meaningful.

Every participant will be encouraged to honor her body, health, boundaries, discernment, and inner guidance. No one will be pressured to work with the plant in a way that does not feel appropriate or aligned.

Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and especially Lake Titicaca are located at significant elevations. Our journey has been designed with space for acclimatization, rest, hydration, and integration, but every body responds differently.

Please consult your healthcare provider before traveling if you have medical concerns related to altitude, heart or respiratory conditions, pregnancy, medications, or any other health consideration that could affect your participation.

This pilgrimage will include walking through archaeological sites, navigating uneven stone pathways, climbing steps, entering high-altitude environments, and spending full days away from the retreat center. You  should feel comfortable walking moderate distances and being on your feet for extended periods.

Specific mobility concerns should be discussed with Sarah before registration so you can determine whether the journey is an appropriate fit.

Four private rooms are available for participants who desire additional solitude and personal space. All other accommodations will be shared double rooms.

Private rooms are limited and will be reserved in the order registrations are received. Shared-room assignments will be thoughtfully arranged before the retreat to support everyone’s comfort.

Absolutely. This pilgrimage has been created for women traveling as part of an intimate group, and you do not need to know anyone before you arrive. Shared meals, ceremony, reflection circles, travel, and time together will allow connection to develop naturally while still honoring each woman’s need for rest and personal space.

Before departure, you will receive a detailed preparation guide covering travel, packing, altitude, physical readiness, ceremony, cultural respect, health considerations, and what to expect throughout the journey.

We will also gather virtually before traveling so that you can meet the group, ask questions, clarify intentions, and begin preparing for the pilgrimage together.

The Sacred Valley can move between warm sunshine, cool mountain air, wind, and chilly mornings and evenings, so comfortable layers will be essential. Bring supportive walking or hiking shoes with good traction, as we will be navigating stone steps, uneven pathways, archaeological sites, and natural terrain.

You may also wish to bring a swimsuit for Munay Sonqo’s hot pools, sauna, cold plunge, and spa amenities. Before departure, you will receive a complete packing guide with recommendations for clothing, ceremony, weather, altitude, and our planned activities.

No, due to the high frequency we will be holding at this event, alcohol will be prohibited.
